Alameda Alerts - Central California Baseball League Champs
Long before the Giants and A’s dominated Bay Area baseball, semi pro ball was the hot ticket at local ballparks. The Alameda Alerts were a formidable nine from 1896 through 1911, capturing the Central California League championship in 1910. Sensational outfielder M. H. Heine Schwerin of the Alerts was considered the fence-buster of the Central Coast League. Top notch twirler George Jenkins also played with the Alerts.
